WE DID IT!  So the big question on everyone's mind is...

DID WE MAKE THE STRETCH GOAL?

Originally, the stretch goal was $50k OR 1,000 backers.  On the last day we changed it to $40K AND 500 backers thinking that was reachable.  And I have to say you impressed us!  You guys reached hard.  We ended up just over $41k with 455 backers.

Survey says.... YES!

Steve and I were so impressed with the last day push that we've decided to reward you with the Paul Gulacy print of Nexus #1 Cover!  We still have the original here and will be using it for the reproduction scan.

STRETCH GOAL RECAP

  • All levels over $20 receive a Nexus #1 print signed by Gulacy/Baron/Rude
  • Paper will be upgraded so everything is printed on the same paper stock
  • NEWSPAPER (all levels) will have at least 10 pages per month
  • BASIC edition will be folded 1X to 11x17" size
  • BASIC edition prints will be 11x17 instead of 8-1/2x11"
  • BASIC edition will have the option for a signature by Steve Rude on the paper and/or print
  • PREMIUM edition will have the option for Steve and/or Baron to personalize their paper and/or print
  • RETAILERS will receive 10 of everything

Did I miss something we promised?  I'm human, so if we promised something that's not listed above PLEASE let me know and I'll get it fixed right away!

BackerKit

We are partnering with BackerKit to make the whole process smooth.  Through there you can:

  • Upgrade backer levels and still receive Kickstarter exclusives
  • Add on items
  • Pay for upgrades/add ones
  • Change your address as needed until campaign is locked for shipping

You can still invite friends to get in on the project! 

BackerKit has a PRESALE option.  These backers will not receive the Kickstarter exclusives, but will still be able to order what will be available to the public.  Our goal was 1,000 papers mailed monthly.  Because we didn't hit that goal there will be a limited number available for presale.  Payment is made through BackerKit.

I am in the process of setting everything up now at which point surveys will be sent out.  I will be ordering TShirts and extras now and Nexus Statue Lithographs will be mailed out in August as they are already in house.

Thanks again for backing us - now I'm off to get BackerKit set up and Steve is working hard on Nexus Strip #25!  I will try and answer questions as quickly as I can!

We've adjusted the STRETCH goal.  Instead of $50k or 1k backers we're offering the same rewards if we reach $40k AND 500 backers.  We're pleased to announce the $40k goal has been reached.  Now we need only 61 backers in the next 2 hours.  Backing can be as little as $1 - it all counts!

A WORD FROM THE DUDE

It’s hard to believe that many people seeking funds to support their projects through Kickstarter never make their goals. I’ve talked to several prominent creators who haven’t, and it’s always given me pause to reflect. Some people make it and some don’t. Some people even far exceed their goals. It’s sometimes hard to determine the how’s and why’s of such things.

Well, after a solid month of daily Kickstarter contributions, I’m overjoyed to report that those supporting the Nexus and Moth weekly comic strips have succeeded.

Probably most touching to me, is to see so many personal friends giving up part of their paychecks to help us out. When the pledges would come in, Jaynelle (Gino) would call up to my second floor drawing area to tell me about it. It always warmed my heart to see those names again. Some were friends who I’ve lost touch with and haven’t heard from in years. Others I’ve talked to just the other day on the phone. Amazing.

Then, there were those people who I have never personally met before. They were doing the same as people I knew, giving up income to support our project. Even now, more support continues to pour forth from new pledgers. Pretty humbling.

And what is my goal—the personal Steve Rude the Dude pledge to my own project?

My pledge is simply to give you what you expect from me. To give you what my illustrious and prodigious predecessors have given me; a reason to look up in the world and continue on your personal path of why we’re all here.

Those who came before us provided the hindsight and foresight for our own lives. It’s a wondrous system, and while we’re all still here, this is the moment we have to make it count, because it’s the only time we’ll ever know.

Add on Extra Months and More

We've had a few people asking about ADD ONS, well here are some options:

Extra months (at the same price as 1 month) - I.e., if you are $25 basic, you can add $25 for a second month!

TShirt - $20 per shirt, any size up to 3XL

Lithograph - $50 - These are high quality and Oversized.  Will be shipped separately in a reinforced tube
