Update 7/3/18
over 8 years ago – Tue, Jul 03, 2018 at 09:34:59 AM

The deal for Nexus has finally been signed and we are slowly processing international orders. My shipper did her best, but we have found numerous errors with customs being over valued and in some cases items that were missing.

We anxious to put this Kickstarter to rest! We hope to have everything mailed, cleared, etc on all orders by the end of the month.

If you chose a discounted version of the Nexus Chronicles book and did not pay the difference those invoices will be sent out one last time then the orders closed.

Thank you all for your patience and support.

God Bless,

General Update
almost 9 years ago – Sun, Nov 26, 2017 at 06:19:12 PM

I'm posting this same update to the Compendium and Nexus Newspaper so apologies to those of you getting this twice

This is Jaynelle.  Finally chiming in to give everyone an update.  I used to keep up by working 80 hours a week and nearing 50 that's not working for me anymore!  I'm doing what I can and with the help of my friend and assistant, Stacey, working remotely to answer emails, and my mom doing shipping.   The kids come first, and I'm finally taking the time to take care of myself.  So -- you'll get a less frazzled me, but I'm working around 20 hours a week.  I realize not everyone will be happy with the speed we're doing things at and I can only apologize for that.

Updated Rewards Shipping

We're attempting to get everything out before Christmas depending on how holiday sales go.  We have the Nexus Chronicles books in house, International orders are packed up and the cost of mailing everything is around $2,000 so we're sending out a few every week.  This week we are spending $400 on shipping supplies so everything gets to you safely.  You will receive tracking when your order ships.  If you have not completed your Kickstarter survey please do so as we hope to completely close out this by January.

Nexus Newspaper Update

We have collected the whole story digitally and colors are in the works. The whole thing also has to be edited and corrected. We have the black and white/color with errors ready to send. It will be several more months before the rest is finished. It's a slow process as we are paying out of pocket, but we are very excited with what the final product is looking like and Steve is already working with Baron on the next 70 issue script.

The entire project is around $100,000 to fund which we were up front about when we did the Nexus Newspaper Kickstarter. We raised around $40k via the initial Kickstarter and used $15k from the Compendium Kickstarter to continue funding the Newspaper. The other $50k is coming out of our pockets.

Family Update

Huge thanks to those of you who have worked with us to close out this project and patience as we work through everything.  The Hero Initiative has been a huge help over the past year as we push through Brandon's medical bills.  He's doing well and is learning to adapt to being back in school for his senior year.

Steve is currently working hard on Future Quest books for D.C.  His next is due out December 20.

Update on the Newspaper Comic Strip
over 9 years ago – Tue, Jun 20, 2017 at 03:49:04 PM

Hello all! This is Jaynelle, Steve's wife and the one who takes care of, well, everything.

First I need to apologize for not posting updates and generally being unavailable. Steve is computer illiterate and if I don't do it personally it doesn't get done. The only exception is physical mailing. My mom is kind enough to do mail!

I dropped everything when Brandon went into the hospital nearly a year ago including posting really anywhere except GoFundMe. It was just too hard. Brandon was finally released late April and I really have no excuse for not diving into the Kickstarter projects except for good old fashioned fear and panic attacks.

I'm not going to ruin any apology with an excuse. There are reasons, but none that are more important than conquering my panic attacks.

Steve is computer illiterate so none of this falls to him. I've been drafting an update for months. Never quite finding it worthy to send out. Knowing we can't please everyone this is our best attempt at making things right.

Due to the unforeseen family medical crises over the past 12 months, we will not be publishing the Nexus Monthly Newspaper strip.  A full year of the newspaper would have cost the projected $100,000.  We were able to put nearly $5,000 out of pocket into the strip on a monthly basis until Brandon became ill.

All 72 pages are penciled and inked and over half are colored and ready for the printer.  The remainder of the pages are being colored as we are able to focus on the paper once again and work with the colorist.

We will be printings a full compilation and will run a Kickstarter to fund this once it is completely put together and ready for the printer. Before we launch that we want to close out all open Kickstarters.

To try and be fair we are offering you alternatives to what was originally purchased via Kickstarter surveys. You may have already received the extras, prints, tees, etc. If so, please disregard questions about if you want these items. The same questions are being set to everyone in your group. We will process replies individually and mail out items ASAP. Everything being offered is already published and available to ship right away.
